35th National Independence Anniversary

The  feast was celebrated with Prompt and solemnity.

Since 1996, the year by which the festivities marking the celebration of our attainment to National Sovereignty were waited in the provincial capitals, the town of Bata will once more array itself in this year 2003, for its most beautiful finery to celebrate the 35th anniversary of its independence with a more grand solemnity with all the possible splendour.

With a difference to previous occasions, the Littoral Provincial capital has presented a new image, it has turned the page of its classical aspects of its colonial town to be presented in its actual modern Status characterised by its large and beautiful avenues, its exotic beaches that invites tourism, its dream areas conceived for leisure and its idyllic escape, the traces of its new tarred roads in the adjacent areas, the recently constructed gigantic buildings, that stretched out with a lost view in the urban area as well as the turmoil atmosphere saturated with vehicles and with an increasing population day in and out following the massive internal and external immigration that is known in the town. All these circumstances that indefinitely modified the town’s dimension transform Bata in an actual city of our time, more cosmopolitan, more beautiful, big and consequent the more populated town of the Country.

This new picture of the Bata town is as a result of the works achieved by Government since it set up its execution programme of construction and improvement of the whole town in 1996, that which suppose to be the exit of the ruins left by the iron dictatorship that ravaged the Country during the 70’s, leaving behind a climate of indescribable destruction.

La Primera Dama de la Nación, Constancia Mangue de ObiangEquatorial Guinea today lives in the best moments of its historic and sovereign existence. Passing through the times of colonial despoliation, of anti socialist policy and of dictatorship oppressions, that followed the “Golpe de Libertad” of 1979. Today the Country is witnessing good moments of peace, liberty and political stability, the whole glory of a prosperous economy, fruits of several years of sufferings and of endured bullying with a stoic perseverance of the people.

The government have therefore wanted at the course of this celebration  of the 35th  anniversary of our independence, attract the attention on the new reality that is known in the interior of the Country, and to truly say, about the ambiance of the feast that have been marked by some persons as a display feeling for our capacity Management and development  as well as the economic capacity of our Country and government to achieve projects and  developments programmes auto financed without any difficulties, it is a direct consequence of our economic prosperity that is known in Equatorial Guinea.

It therefore follows that at Bata, the Equatoguinean people took part in a feast without equality, with a very varied programme and motivated with cultural and Sportive activities. It is necessary to make mention here of a large number of infrastructures newly constructed and some buildings renovated that its inauguration took place at the course of the these festivities. All these works number a total of 17,` and divided as follows :

NEWLY CONSTRUCTED WORKS: The Central food conservation agency, the National Secondary School Institute of Machinda, the second and third phases of the adjacent area roads, the Motorway of Asonga - Ngoló, the Parking space of Africa Palace, the Hangar for the Presidential Aeroplane, the bridge on the Ngoló river, the Pembe airport road, The Parking Space for vehicles of the Bata airport, the modernisation of the camping roads “3 de Agosto”, the tarring of the airport Compound.

RESTORED WORKS :

The congress hall of Ngoló, the  Africa College and Piloto, the tarring of the Bata roads town, the airport-Stadium road “La Libertad”, the electrification of Bata town and the training school of teachers Corps.

The government has equally proceeded in the laying of some foundation stones as follows: the landing runway, grinding and the parking space for international airport “ASONGA”, the Presidential Honours  Pavilion of the same airport, the motorway of Ngolo-Ncoantoma-Ntobo-Port of Bata, the Polyclinic of Bata, the bridge on the road Bindung - Capmo river, the College of Antorcha at Nsefala, the construction of 33 blocks of six apartments of type D and the construction of the headquarters of the fire brigade of Bata.

The civil and military march past was fabulous, grandiose and massive at a point that, it started from the afternoon and closed at 6.30 pm, without even half of the population taking part at the march past.

Finally, the 35th anniversary feast of our independence celebrated this year in the town of Bata was a big success for that we have to congratulate not only the government, by also and above all the sovereign people of Equatorial Guinea for their spirit of discipline, its high sense of organisation and for her maturity shown during the days of celebration of this big national event which pass well in an atmosphere of peace, tranquillity without the least incident.
